Promotional Award Ceremony of the ePassbook Witnessing the Fruitful Achievements of Security Companies

The ePassbook promotional contest results were tallied, and the award ceremony was held on January 31st , 2018. All the participated security companies and brokers who have attempted to attain the most number of download and installation of the ePassbook APP were all invited. 11 traders and some 30 operation offices were presented with cash prize, grand total of NT$ 5,600,000.

To popularize the FinTech innovative services, TDCC launched the ePassbook APP in late March 2016, and some other campaigns with ample rewards were simultaneously initiated. The generous cash prizes are to be granted to those who have achieved the most number of download and installation of the ePassbook APP. When their existing customers come the counters in person, they have made efforts explaining and advocating all the advantages of the ePassbook. In addition, when investors open up new accounts, they make sure that the ePassbook to be one of their first options, hence the digital fintech can be well prevalently apprehended.

The rewards were to acknowledge the winners for obtaining the most number of downloading and installing of the ePassbook APP in total for the entire organization, and in each individual operation office. In the organization category, the first prize winner goes to the renowned leading company in the industry - Yuanta Securities while the ‘dark horse’ MasterLink Securities takes home the second place. Meanwhile, in the operation branch category, all the top three winners have been devoting themselves in disseminating FinTech including Cathay Securities Corporation, DunHua Branch; TaiShin Securities, Taipei Branchp; SKIS, Taipei Branch, joined by other major contestants such as FuBon Securities, CTBC Securities, MasterLink Securities, E.SUN Securities, SinoPac Securities, Antay Securities, JihSun Securities, etc. The award ceremony was festive and conversant.

Ms. Chou HuayMei, Deputy Chef, Securities and Futures Bureau, FSC, stated that in order to cultivate the FinTech innovations and developments, the authorities are aspired to anticipate more vibrant and ingenious aspects so the overall competitiveness of the industry can be elevated. The transformation from the conventional physical passbooks to the mobile digitized ePassbook would definitely empower all investors to fully access and administer market information. Ms. Chou appreciates all the assiduous collaborative efforts done by all parties presented.

Mr. Chien HonWen, Director, Taiwan Securities Association, praises highly of the ePassbook. Not only does this innovative APP lead the security market into the exciting FinTech era, he commented, but also corresponds to our public policy of energy saving and carbon emission reduction. There are about 650,000 of the paper passbooks issued in the market every year, he continues. The costs of the books and magnetic strips alone can be as much as some NT$3,000,000. The shift from the physical paper passbooks to virtual ones can slash a big chunk off the expenditure for both administrative and maintenance. It is immensely encouraged for all Security houses to promote ePassbook.

Mr. Sherman Lin, Chairman and CEO of TDCC, remarked further that it has only been merely 10 months since ePassbook was first introduced, and the user number has already exceeded 220,000. This is an exceptional record set by the collective efforts from TDCC and all the engaged Securities. Mr. Lin hopes that the various projects of providing diversified digital services can serve as a link between the investors and the securities company, so that investors can take the full advantage of the configuration of their cross assets, the integration of stocks and market information, so consequently they all can be on top of the FinTech conversion.
