It was a great learning opportunity for the beginners. Experienced competitors could also pass down their skills. By joining this competition, schools could have better archery training development. Furthermore, these students could become great competitors in international games in the future and might start archery trends in Taiwan.
The competent authority has been encouraging the financial sector to devote themselves to charity. In response, TDCC also helps support physical activities. Since the 2016 semester year, TDCC has been the sponsor of schools recommended by the Sports Administration, e.g. Taoyuan Municipal Jen-Ho Junior High School, Szu Chen Junior High School in Taichung City, Kaohsiung Municipal Fongsi Junior High School, Hsinchu City Fuli Junior High School, and Ji-An Elementary School in Hualian County. In the 2017 semester year, Jian Ching Elementary School in Hualian County was added to the list. In the 2018 semester year, the archery training program of Hsiang Shan Primary School in Hsinchu City was also supported by TDCC. In primary and junior high schools’ archery programs which are sponsored, young archers can develop their skills steadily. Learning resources are provided, so children in rural areas or from underprivileged class will be able to have more training opportunities or better equipment when joining competitions.
According to Sherman Lin, TDCC Chairman & CEO, archery is not only a sports activity suitable for Taiwanese people’s physical conditions, but it is also an important game for Taiwan in international competitions. In the past few years, the Chinese Taipei archery team have always performed well. The team won a Bronze medal in the Olympic Games in Brazil and kept the Silver medal in the Summer Universiade in Taipei. Taiwanese teenagers are the hopes of the national archery team. The archers and their coaches have worked very hard to win medals. TDCC hopes that through the help of enterprises, young archers in rural areas or from underprivileged class can have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. It is coaches’ selfless contribution and hard work that competitors can take the field and bring out their best. Lin also encouraged these young competitors to join hands with their teammates during the competition, and share experience as well as build a network with competitors from other schools. Seize every learning opportunity and realize sportsmanship.
On behalf of TDCC, Chairman & CEO Sherman Lin (in the middle of the first row), President, Meng Ching-Li (the third person from the left in the first row), and Secretary General Gloria Ching (the first person from the right in the first row) jointly donated a check for seven schools: Jen-Ho Junior High School, Szu Chen Junior High School, Fuli Junior High School, Fongsi Junior High School, Ji-An Elementary School, Jian Ching Elementary School, and Hsiang Shan Primary School.
TDCC has spared no effort to help build the foundation for physical activities. In the future, TDCC will continue to provide resources to help more young athletes in rural areas or from underprivileged class who may become national competitors and make Taiwan proud one day.
