Upgraded ePASSBOOK Launched, another Peak for Digital Finance
2018/11/19
The grand press conference for the APP launch, ePASSBOOK 2.0, was held on November 19 2018. The extraordinary media event invited the competent authority, securities firm representatives, and journalists to experience the new features of the APP.
Since its commencement on March 29 2017, ePASSBOOK APP has helped Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) securities passbooks go mobile and digital, and accumulated over 400,000 registered users. Investors are now able to see their personal assets up to date and to search their holding asset positions from different securities firms. To further realize investors’ demands for mobile and digitalized securities passbooks, TDCC launched ePASSBOOK 2.0 on November 12.
TDCC launched the brand-new upgraded ePASSBOOK 2.0. From left to right stood distinguished guests, e.g. Taiwan Securities Association (TSA) Chair He Yian-Ming, TDCC Chairman & CEO Sherman Lin, Cai Li-Ling, Vice Director-General at Securities and Futures Bureau (SFB) of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), and TDCC President Meng Ching-Li, joined hands in the APP launch ceremony.
In the remarks, Cai Li-Ling, Vice Director-General at SFB, pointed out that it was a constant quest for making progress in the financial market. She was happy to see that players in the market work together. She also believed that TDCC thought and acted the same, so the ePASSBOOK 2.0 was released, increasing effectiveness and convenience of the services for the society as a whole and a great number of investors.
Sherman Lin, TDCC Chairman & CEO, stated that in recent years, TDCC has been endeavoring to create a digital environment for book-entry transfer. ePASSBOOK meets investors’ demands on mobile and digital securities passbooks. Furthermore, digital technology will bring new systems to the market. Since the APP was launched, TDCC has been collecting feedback from different parties and studying users’ needs, so the 2.0 version was released, hoping to provide more comprehensive services to investors.
The new edition of the APP has four major features: asset distribution integration, transaction details on the cloud, customized notifications, and equity market data analytics. For asset distribution integration, since investors usually need to compile and compare multiple accounts, ePASSBOOK 1.0 has already had this function. ePASSBOOK 2.0 further integrates the assets in multiple securities passbooks and uses visualized graphics to display investors’ assets altogether. For transaction details on the cloud, investors no longer have to run the risks of losing their transaction details after they change their phones. For customized notifications, users will receive notifications regarding events and meetings they are entitled to attend. For equity market data analytics, it is the function called “Find Your Share,” which provides information on comprehensive big news on the market, shareholders’ meetings, as well as ex-rights and ex-dividends. The data of TDCC shareholding structures will be visualized. Investors can also decide their own search settings on the range of shareholding, making asset management and right exercise more simple and convenient.
He Yian-Ming, TSA Chair, is quite satisfied with this upgrade. He mentioned that the ePASSBOOK 2.0 built an asset platform for securities assets, transaction information, and market information. He believed that the securities market would become more prosperous because of the APP.
According to TDCC, the company has always worked hard to promote a variety of digital services. Now, ePASSBOOK establishes a direct digital channel between issuers and investors. This innovative channel provides investors with real-time and comprehensive integrated information on the market. TDCC will not only continue to enhance the interface and user experience of the APP, but it will also keep exploring the feasibility of more applications on phone passbooks. In the future, TDCC will also partner with other Fintech providers to shape the ecosystem of digital services in the financial market.
