The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report of Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) has recently been reviewed by DNV GL Business Assurance Company, a world-leading certification body. TDCC is going to publish the first internationally certified CSR report among Taiwanese securities- and futures-related units.
Sherman Lin, TDCC Chairman & CEO, said that CSR is a universally recognized concept valued by governments and corporates around the globe. TDCC has long been cultivating a sustainable market and believes that one should return the favor after getting help from society, so they’ve deeply involved in charity work, financial education promotion, and environmental protection. The company is taking real action to care for society and fulfill corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, TDCC echoes with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and realizes 13 of the 17 SDGs. In recent years, TDCC is undergoing digital transformation, using innovative ideas to carry out thoughts, and integrating services of different platforms, telecommunications providers, and Fintech businesses. TDCC also explores the B2C arena from the traditional B2B field, including the Fintech application such as ePASSBOOK, Stockvote, and FundRich Securities.
To closely integrate business and operational strategies with CSR, and let important stakeholders such as the competent authority, shareholders, and participants understand TDCC’s ideas of sustainability, TDCC entrusts Ernst & Young, an accounting advisory agency, to act as a consultant, and asks DNV GL Business Assurance Company, a well-known certification body, to help with the CSR report certification.
Ceng Yu-Zhe, an accountant and head of climate change and sustainable development at Ernst & Young, said that the structure of the TDCC CSR report is aligned with the core items stated in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), version G4. During the consulting period, Ernst & Young provided a series of training, interviews, and systematic methodology coaching to help TDCC identify crucial stakeholders, and respond to the sustainable issues stakeholders’ are interested in, collect CSR data, and examine CSR performance indicators. Through the CSR report, TDCC hopes to provide feedback and take action regarding the key issues their stakeholders value. By doing this, social environment and stakeholders’ rights are thus protected. Ernst & Young also encourages TDCC to internalize the method as a tool that reviews overall operation and management, formulating long-term strategies from a broader perspective and making sustainability a part of people’s lives.
According to Sherman Lin, TDCC Chairman & CEO, the first CSR report released by TDCC has received the certification of DNV GL Business Assurance Company. The report is estimated to be published at the annual general meeting. Stakeholders like shareholders and participants will receive a copy of the report. It is a meaningful moment since the report is the first internationally certified CSR report written by a securities- and futures-related unit in Taiwan. TDCC will keep caring for society and fulfilling social responsibility in pursuit of a better world with good faith.
