2022/08/01

The award presentation ceremony and international summit of the 12th Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) was held virtually by Enterprise Asia on July 21, 2022. TDCC is once again the winner of the Responsible Business Leadership award, suggesting its long-term commitment to achieving the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs) has been well recognized by international judges.

The AREA was established by Enterprise Asia, a non-governmental organization, in 2006. It is one of the most valued and competitive CSR awards in Asia, and also a major CSR event that the world pays attention to. TDCC submitted its sustainability report titled “TDCC ESG Report- Be the Model of Sustainability” to contend for the award, and after going through a document review and face-to-face interview by Enterprise Asia, followed by expert deliberation, which all together took more than three months, TDCC was announced the winner of the Responsible Business Leadership award. This is the third consecutive year that TDCC has been honored with the award and it is indeed a remarkable achievement.

TDCC Chairman Han-Chiang Chu said the company started engaging the idea of sustainable development four years ago by creating the very first integrated investor relations (IR) platform in Taiwan to disclose various information about environment, society and governance (ESG). Over the past few years, TDCC has also proactively engaged in environmental protection, corporate philanthropy and the improvement in corporate governance in a step-by-step approach, in a bid to fulfill its mandate and responsibility as the primary back office infrastructure for Taiwan’s financial market.

Recognizing the importance of sustainable development and corporate giving, TDCC has engaged in public service activities for a long time and has remained committed to the promotion of financial education with an aim to realize financial inclusion in Taiwan. As far as the environment is concerned, TDCC passed the ISO14064-1 (Greenhouse gases assessment) and ISO50001 (energy management) certifications ahead of peers, and will soon introduce the PAS 2060 standard in its daily operations in order to achieve carbon neutrality as a way to demonstrate to employees that the company is ready to reduce energy consumption without compromising operating performance, and show international peers that sustainable operations are truly beneficial. On the social front, TDCC aspires to create a happy workplace while contributing to the wellness of the society by caring for the disadvantageous people and sponsoring sports and art events. Regarding corporate governance, TDCC has established a Committee of Sustainable Development to incorporate ESG into its business DNA, strengthen data security and fulfill its commitment to honest operations.

At the award presentation ceremony, Chairman Chu said that business sustainability has always been a major driving force for TDCC. With ESG becoming the market mainstream, it makes sense that TDCC also incorporates ESG as one of the major indicators of its sustainability. Moving forward, TDCC will continue to uphold the spirit of “altruism” and “seeking the common good” in building partnerships with other global institutions and organizations so that everyone can contribute to the effectuation of ESG with substantive actions.
