2017/12/05
“Pre-Employment Financial Charity Program,”directed by Financial Supervisory Commision, organized by TDCC, and undertaken by Securities & Futures Institute, has been held three times since 2015, and this year the enrollment number peaked at 616.
Chairman & CEO of TDCC, Sherman Lin, pointed out that to fulfill corporate social responsibilities, TDCC has invited concerned organizations in finance, securities, and futures to organize “Pre-Employment Financial Charity Program for University Students” since 2015. The program aimed to offer a series of specialized financial training courses to university students in need of funding due to family reasons. The program would guide students to pass exams for professional licenses and strengthen their competitive advantages for their career. After the end of the training, job placement would be provided to help students lead a better off life.
Through the implementation in 2015 and 2016, the number of trainees amounted to 766, and the total number of professional licenses acquired was 2755. There were 468 students adopting job placement, 286 of whom started their career in financial institutes. The successful placement rate reached 61%, standing higher than the employment rate of 12% in the same industry, showing the remarkable results of efficient execution.
Sherman Lin, Chairmen & CEO, stated that for students from disadvantaged financial background, academic achievement was the pivotal solution to improving their family conditions; however, most of them needed to work part-time for family livelihood or tuition and fees, causing a negative effect on their acadeamic performance or future career choice. The purpose of “Pre-Employment Financial Charity Program for University Students”was to focus on training and development of financial talents, combining charitable and educational purposes to help students enter the workforce, flip their lives, and realize their dreams.
The third“Pre-Employment Financial Charity Program for University Students”commenced in September 2017 at eight core universities in six areas around the island, including Taipei, Taichung, Yunlin, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Hualian. The training took place on weekends, lasting from September 2017 to March 2018, totaling 170 hours. In order to achieve total concentration and least distraction, the organizer also provided lunch, books, handouts, and allowances for living expenses as well as registration fees. Also, a learning and career reward system was also established for improved learning results and active engagement in job placement so that students can have stable career and a changed life.
Mr. Lin indicated that from the beginning, with supervision and assistance from Finaicial Supervisory Commission, the program had won suppport from many finaicial, securities and futures institutes and their job opportunities. Also, a great number of universities and colleagues also actively applied for being core training schools. As the originator and organizer of “Pre-Employment Financial Charity Program for University Students,” TDCC will hold on to its original principle for charity, work closely with institutes in the related field and core schools, promote financial talent development, and bring in pre-employment education to the fullest.
