2020/11/24

The solemn award ceremony of the 2020 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) was held on November 18th at the Grand Hotel, Taipei. Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) earned its second consecutive Platinum award for Corporate Sustainability Report. The Growth Through Innovation Award was also bestowed on TDCC, the first timer for this category. On behalf of the company, Ms. Zhang Xiu-Zhen, TDCC Secretary General, attended the ceremony and received the awards.

This year saw a 28% growth in participants and welcomed 252 companies, the highest on record since TCSA’s commencement in 2008. The 2020 TCSA invited 486 volunteer judges and 182 renowned experts and scholars to form a 668-person team. Objectivity, impartiality, integrity, and transparency were the important values of the judging process. The awards went to companies with reports upholding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and disclosing information on corporate governance, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

Through strict third-party reviews, the Finance and Insurance Sector under the TCSA Corporate Sustainability Report Awards honored TDCC and several financial holdings with Platinum Awards. With concrete actions and achievements, the 2020 TDCC Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report was proved to fully disclose the spirit of ESG—environmental sustainability, social participation, and corporate governance. Once again, TDCC was recognized by the judges and became one of the Platinum award winners. The praise shows TDCC’s commitment and contribution to CSR and sustainability.

TDCC also received the Growth through Innovation Award under the Best Practice Award for its Responsible Persons and Major Shareholders Information Reporting Platform. The prize manifests TDCC’s determination to establish government-entrusted platforms, improve Taiwanese corporate information transparency, and deepen the competent authority’s supervisory effectiveness. The award also displays TDCC’s dedication to promoting Taiwan’s image by fulfilling the international duties of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism.

According to Secretary General Zhang, TDCC will continue exercising its financial influence by fostering economic development, caring for society, and protecting the environment. Meanwhile, TDCC will utilize its core capabilities to assist the competent authorities to build up a well-established and sustainable ESG ecosystem with the resolve to give the capital market the edge over international competitors and lead Taiwanese enterprises to make strides to corporate sustainability.
