TDCC hosts ACG Cross Training Seminar to draw up roadmap for CSD industry with 27 partners
2022/09/29
TDCC hosted the ACG Cross Training Seminar (CTS), which ran from September 26 to 28, with the participation of almost 400 people representing 27 ACG members and international financial organizations. As he spoke as a guest of honor at the event, Dr. Tien-Mu Huang, Chairperson of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission said: “In a world where global conflicts intensify, we have seen continued business transitions and market transformation driven by resilience.” For TDCC, it is our hope that through this international seminar, we can facilitate exchanges between different countries and contribute to more diversified development of the CSD industry so that the capital markets in the Asia-Pacific region can turn the page and adapt to the new normal.
This is the 22nd CTS for ACG members, which is designed to enhance business exchanges among Asia-Pacific CSDs. The event was originally scheduled for 2020, but had been postponed due to the global pandemic. To ensure continuous exchanges among ACG members, TDCC held an online event called ACG Networking Week in September 2021, which was well-received and highly-praised by the other ACG members. As the global pandemic lingers, TDCC decided to host the CTS online for the first time, on the theme of Reshaping CSD in a New Normal.
Given the profound impact of the pandemic on the industry, TDCC put in place a special session titled “View from the Top,” in which the heads of major CSDs of South Korea, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan and Japan joined TDCC in discussing the latest industry trends and sharing their views. The six ACG task groups also made extensive discussions about important issues facing the industry, including investor services, new business initiatives, DLT applications, legal framework for data security, business continuity plan and management of data security supply chain, so that all participants can stay updated to the latest industry development and learn from each other’s practical experience.
In his opening remarks, TDCC Chairman Han-Chiang Chu said the diversity and resilience that the Asia-Pacific markets had demonstrated during the pandemic were truly commendable. Guided by “innovation”, “resilience” and “sustainability”, TDCC intends to focus on digitalization and data security in its fourth decade of operations, and Chairman Chu hoped that the industry experts and professionals attending the event could share their insights and experience in business transition to create more sparks of wisdom that are valuable to the development and innovation of the capital market.
As a member of the ACG Executive Committee, and also the convener of the Investor Service Task Force, TDCC is responsible for the maintenance and operations of ACG’s official website. We have also hosted many major events including the ACG general meeting. Looking ahead, TDCC will stay committed to promoting capital market exchanges in the Asia-Pacific region, and draw up a new roadmap for the CSD industry by leveraging the soft power of Taiwan in digital innovation, data security, in addition to the resilience and sustainability in Taiwan’s financial ecosystem.
