Warmth from TDCC, Love Spreading in Hualien: Joint Music Concert of Six Hualien Schools Ended Successfully
2023/05/15
To express gratitude for the TDCC’s long-term donations to many schools in Hualien, and providing them learning resources, a joint music concert titled "Warmth from TDCC, Love Spreading in Hualien" was held on May 12th. Six elementary schools in Hualien County gathered at the Taiwan Aboriginal Culture Museum to perform, using music to resonate with love and convey care for rural education. TDCC has sponsored schools in Hualien for a long time. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hualien Joint Music Concert had been suspended for three years. However, after the pandemic subsided, in appreciation of TDCC’s contributions to rural education in Hualien, the concert was revived. Taichang, Bei Chang, Zhong Hua, Ji-An, Jian Ching, and Xikou elementary schools took turns on stage, showcasing their vitality through musical instrument performances and captivating dances.
TDCC Chairman Han-Chiang Chu personally attended the concert to show his support. According to Chairman Chu, educational opportunities should be fair. Therefore, since 2015, TDCC has been providing support to 14 schools in Hualien, offering diverse resources such as music, tutoring, and sports to broaden the learning horizons of children in rural areas, thus realizing the concept of altruism and common good.
Principal Wu Chang-Wei of Taichang Elementary School emphasized that Hualien is located in the mountainous region, and many schools in the area are either non-urban or indigenous schools. Taking Taichang as an example, nearly one-fourth of the students are either disabled or come from low-income families. Over 50% of the students are indigenous or new immigrants. Due to the insufficient educational resources, these children often miss out on their rights to education. Principal Wu expressed gratitude for TDCC’s long-term support in providing educational resources to rural schools in Hualien, which enables fair educational opportunities and care for the underprivileged.
The concert ended with a grand performance by all six schools, singing "Childhood" together. The atmosphere reached its climax, creating a passionate and touching scene. The event was a complete success and will undoubtedly become the most precious memory for the children during their school days.
Chairman Chu of TDCC stated that through the three main aspects of "nurturing future financial talents, promoting rural education, and caring for disadvantage groups," TDCC has actively responded to and catered to the needs of society. In the future, the company will continue to promote the development of arts, culture, and sports, bridge the urban-rural gap, and deeply cultivate the sustainable development of ESG.
