TDCC Supports Community Care Centers, Promoting Innovative Elderly Care Solutions

2023/08/31

In response to the “Developing Community Care Strategy” under "Aging Society White Paper" by the Executive Yuan, TDCC has been promoting the "Public Donations for Community Care Points" program for the second consecutive year. This year, TDCC has donated to 88 care points in 19 counties and cities, benefiting over 5,000 senior citizens. This initiative aims to create a friendly and safe environment for elderly services, contributing to social sustainability. This program also reflects TDCC's commitment to ESG principles and corporate social responsibility by generating positive impacts.

TDCC's support for community care points aligns with the concepts of "social participation" and "local elderly care." These care points are set up in collaboration with village offices and civil organizations, with local residents volunteering to provide services such as care visits, phone check-ins, meal services, and health promotion activities. The goal is to enhance the physical and mental well-being of elderly individuals, provide primary preventive care, and establish a continuous care system. Community care points across different regions express their gratitude for TDCC's support, as it enhances the efficiency of local services, strengthens community self-operating models, promotes elderly social engagement, and fosters sustainable, healthy community environments.

Chairman Bing-Huei Lin of TDCC stated that this year's program for supporting community care points involves a total donation of NT$25 million for space creation, renovation, and operational activities in 88 care points. These care points have effectively utilized these resources to plan 3,607 events for epidemic prevention, implement digital solutions, and promote intergenerational activities. These activities have engaged over 140,000 participants, including elderly individuals, their family members, young volunteers, and community residents. TDCC's contribution allows seniors to experience a fulfilling aging life within their local communities, enhancing their physical and mental well-being and fostering community self-help and mutual assistance.

This program encourages elderly individuals to actively participate in community activities, delaying the aging process and expanding their social networks, enabling them to enjoy independent and self-sufficient lives within their local communities. TDCC will continue to provide support for the creation of community care point spaces, renovations, and related operational expenses to offer better interaction spaces for the elderly. This initiative aligns with the government's efforts to promote local elderly care policies and conveys a fresh perspective on elderly care for the society.
