TDCC Financial Literacy for Youth Program: A Decade of Brilliance, Kindling the Fire of Hope

The 2024 10th TDCC Financial Literacy for Youth Program organized by TDCC, simultaneously commenced 9 classes across northern, central, southern, and eastern regions on September 21. This year, there were 475 senior students from 31 colleges and universities with financially disadvantaged backgrounds participating the Financial Literacy for Youth Program. Yen-Liang Chen, Vice Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission, personally visited the class in Taipei encouraging all students to overcome challenges with resilience and accumulate knowledge as a valuable asset.

Yen-Liang Chen emphasized the close connection between different stages of life and the financial industry. The TDCC Financial Literacy for Youth Program combines theory and practice. Participants should seize the opportunity to attend the training, enhance their personal value, strengthen their employment competitiveness, make good use of resources, and contribute their knowledge. This will create a positive cycle, fostering the continuous growth of the financial industry.

Bing-Huei Lin, Chairman of TDCC, stated that TDCC has long been committed to promoting ESG values, with a strong focus on social aspects, especially caring for disadvantaged individuals. The objective of this Financial Literacy for Youth Program is to strengthen the employment competitiveness of students with financially disadvantaged backgrounds by harnessing the philanthropic power of the financial industry. TDCC expressed gratitude for the joint sponsorship of organizations including the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Futures Exchange, Taipei Exchange, Financial Information Service Co., Joint Credit Information Center, and Taiwan-CA Inc, among others.

The 2024 Academic Year TDCC Financial Literacy for Youth Program will run from September 2024 to March 2025, with classes held on weekends, totaling 170 hours. The program provides students with lunch, textbooks, living allowances, and examination fees for licenses. It also establishes various learning and employment incentive mechanisms. To date, Financial Literacy for Youth Program with 3,659 students completed the program. Upon completion of the program, students will be matched with more than 1,400 job vacancies provided by various financial institutions. These classes have nurtured many diligent and dedicated professionals for the financial industry, with 75% of the graduates entered the financial industry.

TDCC has long been accompanying and caring for disadvantaged and rural children, knowing that education is an opportunity to change their destiny. TDCC will continue to invest in financial education, kindling the passion and hope of underprivileged students and add brightness to their future.
