TDCC Hosts 11th Taiwan Youth Football Friendship Tournament to Support Grassroots Sports Development
2025/09/01
The 11th Taiwan Youth Football Friendship Tournament, organized by the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC), took place on August 19 and 30, 2025, at Donggang Senior High School in Pingtung. Employees from the four sponsoring organizations—the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Futures Exchange, Pou Chen Group, and TDCC—traveled south to cheer for the schools they support. Young athletes forged friendships through football, demonstrating their skills, teamwork, and vibrant spirit of youth.
Since 2015, TDCC, together with the Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taiwan Futures Exchange, and Pou Chen Group, has sponsored four junior high school football teams in Pingtung: Donggang High School (junior high division), Laiyi High School (junior high division), Majia Junior High School, and Changzhi Junior High School. In addition to long-term sponsorship, the four organizations jointly host the annual tournament, providing a competitive platform for student athletes while helping them develop confidence, discipline, and resilience through rigorous training.
TDCC Chairman Bing-Huei Lin highlighted that the annual tournament is not only an excellent opportunity for players to showcase the results of their hard work, but also a valuable platform for building friendships. He encouraged the athletes to strive for victory while embracing the chance to learn from one another, noting that while they may be rivals on the pitch, they can become friends outside the game.
Taiwan Stock Exchange Senior Executive Vice President Hui-Chuan Tu expressed her admiration for the dedication of the young players, who, under the diligent guidance of their coaches, displayed determination and a strong will to win—something she found especially moving at the event. Taiwan Futures Exchange Senior Executive Vice President Hsi-Chi Chen remarked that he was pleased to have helped initiate the sponsorship program more than a decade ago. He reaffirmed the Futures Exchange’s longstanding commitment to public welfare and the original intention of supporting national sports development, encouraging the players to continue honing their skills and courageously pursue their dreams on the field. Pou Chen Group’s Yue Yuan Education Foundation Chairman Yi-Nan Li emphasized that cultivating football talent requires the combined efforts of players, coaches, and corporate support, pledging to continue investing resources to nurture the next generation of athletes.
After eight exciting matches, the tournament concluded successfully, with Donggang High School (junior high division) claiming the championship and Laiyi High School (junior high division) securing second place. The young players not only honed their skills but also forged meaningful friendships, promising to gather again next year at Laiyi High School for another spirited competition.
