TDCC Elevates 'Trustworthy Finance' with Dual Upgrades: Adding eFastChannel to ePassbook App and Introducing 2FA to eSMART System

2026/11/02

To continuously improve the convenience and security of financial market services, the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) launched two service upgrades in late October 2026. On the investor-facing side, TDCC added the "eFastChannel" application channel into its widely adopted "ePassbook" App. On the institution-facing side, two-factor authentication (2FA) was introduced to the eSMART system, which all market participants use for securities book-entry operations. Together, these upgrades build a convenient and secure digital financial ecosystem for the capital market by empowering and serving the public externally while strengthening resilience internally.

TDCC President Daniel Chen said that trust is the unshakable cornerstone of financial services, and that this upgrade is built around the principle of strengthening both external and the internal operations. Externally, connecting the ePassbook App directly to the eFastChannel platform gives investors a more intuitive and convenient way to manage their digital assets across securities firms. Internally, introducing two-factor authentication to the eSMART system comprehensively strengthens the information security and resilience of core back-office operations.

Since TDCC launched the eFastChannel platform in December 2024, investors have had to apply through a securities firm’s app or a computer web page. With this upgrade, investors can apply directly within the ePassbook App, using a TWCA digital certificate, and connect to the eFastChannel platform 24 hours a day. They can convert their paper passbooks held at multiple securities firms into mobile passbooks, enjoying a seamless “one tap to apply, one stop to finish” experience. This greatly reduces the time and cost of visiting securities firms one by one. The ePassbook App has now been activated by more than 8.3 million accounts, and 95% of newly onboarded investors apply for a mobile passbook, showing how well received mobile passbooks are.

While improving front-end convenience for investors, TDCC is also raising the core information security standards for market institutions. In response to information security trends and financial identity verification requirements, TDCC has formally introduced 2FA to the eSMART system, which securities firms, custodians and all other market participants use for centralized securities custody and book-entry operations. The mechanism guards against account theft, credential forgery and unauthorized access at the source, significantly raising the level of protection. It establishes a standardized, high-standard cybersecurity framework for the large volume of critical daily book-entry operations such as market settlement and clearing.

Daniel Chen emphasized that TDCC will continue to put the needs of market participants and investors at the center, uphold the core value of “Trustworthy Finance,” and bring steady momentum to the sustainable development of Taiwan’s capital market.
